63 free high resolution abstract textures Vol. 1

This month we prepared 63 free abstract textures, which are mostly composed from blurred photographs with added various effects and multiple layers.A lot of them are also based on patterns with added color gradients. When i was making these textures i wasn’t concerned with what will came out in the end. I just took a bad photograph and toyed with it in Photoshop. There will be three more packs of textures with similar concept in following months. You can download them here for free, but read up on our rules to make sure how you can use them.

Hello

The vacation time has come, and so we are releasing the remainder of textures we had on standby in one go. There was an addition of 386 high resolution textures on our website Startextures.com. We will be away for approximately a month and will be visiting Croatia and Holland. We hope to come back with a large collections of new textures and will be releasing them throughout the rest of the summer and beginning of autumn. The textures are spread through almost all the categories with the largest addition in metal, nature, paper and plastic textures and can be found by following the links below.

Concrete grunge textures

Its grunge texture time again. This time we went with concrete base and added effects and mixed in multiple other textures. The images are mostly in black and white tones and are full of scratches which makes them perfect to give a grunge feeling to your designs. They are great for use in photo overlays, various backgrounds, styles, custom fills and web design. The pack contains 6 textures in high resolution (3888×2592, 300dpi).

Free colorful tileable patterns

This time we are publishing a set of 13 colorful patterns that are mostly in blue, yellow and pink color. Patterns are made of elements such as flowers, squares, circles and croses put into interesting combinations. All the textures are 520×520 (300 dpi) in size. You can snatch the premade patterns below or download the Photoshop .pat file here.

By now you should all know how to install a .pat file but if you still don’t please check one of the other pattern sets on our blog and read the detailed instructions there.

60 free high resolution skies textures

Hello

Today we are improving one of the least filled sections on our high resolution texture library Startextures.com. 60 new free high resolution skies textures are up for grabs in the skies section of the page. They include a few beautiful sunset pictures, some stormy clouds and in general some of the most beautiful color variations the nature can provide.

Colorful grungy tileable stripes patterns

For all of you who can’t get enough of striped patterns, we offer a new addition to your collection: A colorful grungy stripped pattern set. The collection contains six patterns made of horizontal lines in different color variations. To create it we played around with gradient effect in pastel tones and we added a grainy texture to achieve the grungy look. The jpegs are 530×530 (300 dpi) in size and can be downloaded below or you can snatch the .pat file here.

How to install a pat. file

A pattern is usually an image that can be tiled seamlessly to create a pattern.
Once you’ve downloaded a pattern, you will have to unzip it first.

Than you have a .patfile that has to be installed in Photoshop in order to use it on your artwork.

Copy the .pat files into:
Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CS\Presets\Patterns

To load a pattern set, first open Photoshop, go to the Patterns palette then click the small arrow in the top right corner and choose “Load Patterns”. Find the .pat file you have just copied to the Patterns folder in step 1, and hit ‘open’. Select ‘Add’ and voila. Next time you open Photoshop, the new patterns will be in the pattern library already…

This time we prepared an abstract tileable pattern set containing 5 textures and a Photoshop .pat file. The patterns are very colorful and chaotic. With some imagination and some humor they resemble a clown parade or a carnival. You can download the jpeg files below or you can snatch the .pat file here.
